Ever since I was assigned to U.S, I started to love the Mexican food. Austin, is in Texas, and famous of Tex-Mex food. According to Wiki, "Tex-Mex" (portmanteau of Texan and Mexican) is a term used to describe a regional American cuisine that blends food products available in the United States and the culinary creations of Mexican-Americans influenced by the cuisines of Mexico. The cuisine has spread from border states such as Texas and those in the Southwestern United States to the rest of the country. Tex-Mex is most popular in the southern state of Texas.
I love quesadillas (ki.sa.di.yas). Due to our limited 'halal' food we can get in Austin, we (me and my friend, makcikaini) love this food very very much simply because its delicious and you can get it anywhere here. Normally, we will choose quesadillas with vege. The above picture of quesadillas was taken when we stopped by for lunch at San Marcos Premium Outlet's food court.
A quesadilla is made with a tortilla and is filled primarily with cheese, other ingredients, such as cooked meat, refried beans, or vegetables may be added. The filled tortilla is then toasted or fried, usually until the cheese is melted. Once the quesadilla is cooked, it is traditionally cut into slices or wedges. Most quesadillas are prepared by just folding and filling a tortilla, but other variations have tortillas specially made for filling. The type of tortilla varies by region. In most of Mexico, Central and South America, corn tortillas are favoured.
I think I will google the recipe and try this at home. So yummy!
